Tensions Rising

With tensions rising in the Middle East, and the extremist factions wanting an all-out war in the region so that their various interests may find enactment and fruition in the world, what are the truly responsible meant to think? Further, what is the response to this most recent uproar in a region so deeply troubled and rife with conflict for so very long?

Was it Shakespeare who declared, "The pen is mightier than the sword?" Can thought overcome this most recent violence? Or is thought, thinking guided by the drives of the self-centeredness of men, whatever their religion or rank, the cause? We never go to the root cause, but seek to end our problems only on the surface, where they express themselves, believing that dealing with them on the world's stage will solve them once and for all. But, violent means only lead to violent ends, which, in turn, propigate only more violent beginnings. And so the cycle of violence continues on ad infinitum. Mankind does not want peace; mankind loves its violence -- what greater demonstration of manliness is there than kicking another's ass infront of a large audience? Ah, now we are beginning to see the deeper motives. Control.

If only we knew what our deeper drives were and wanted to express. They propel us to forget our immanent mortality and the very real fragility of life. If we can be strong, nay, the strongest, than, who knows, maybe we'll find a way to live for forever. There is something possibly very wrong with this mentality and outlook. Again, is thought responsible for our perpetual violence?

More immediately, what is the responsible person's response to violence and chaos? Is it striclty observation and acceptance? What can one do to end violence once and for all WITHOUT taking part in violence in any form? Isn't the observation of the incoming action by the heart and mind the ending and transformation of that action? Can't the INTELLIGENT observer transform the bad into good simply by the act of responsibly observing? I believe so. But to hell with what I believe, try it out and see! Experiment with life and see the results like a good scientist -- finally, like what the world needs, like a good soul scientist.

What the world needs: soul scientists, or, maybe the same thing, soulful scientists. As well as soul poets, soulful poets, soul artists, soulful artists, and soulful, conscientious dissenters to all those who would make the world their "victory" funeral pyre.

We need the truly committed. We need the truly committed to finding and expressing real love, not tainted by the desires of ego. Then, we may find the doorway to a new reality, replete with all the virtues and attributes we so deeply long-for in our highest values, morals, laws, and codified declarations. Or do we really want this? Search your soul and find out: "What do I really want, and what am I willing to give for that which will truly and ultimately fulfill me?"

If it means write, then by all means, write. If it means run, then by all means, run. If it means create, then by all means create. But remember, there is a price to pay for any choice and decision/direction. Are you willing and able to pay it? And remember, like begets like. So, are you willing to play it? Will it be love, or war? Depth of meaning, or continued violence? Order, or chaos? Only you know. You're creating it. So, be it and become it... "Or, What You Will..."

A Heart of Love

Before all else, the giving impulse to love all creation, for it is all oneself. Why have we forgotten this primordial truth? Why are the currents of real love so frail in this besieged time? Have most of us forgotten the seeds planted in our own hearts at birth? Have most of us been so brainwashed, so conditioned, that we have forgotten the original blessing and gift of being human, Love?

This question will resonate to the very end and to the very core: why is love so rare, and apparently so frail, in the earthly realm? Why has its gold (the very real one) been usurped by the imposter of the metal found in the earth? Who could imagine such a farcical mistake, so laughable if not for its miserable consequences? No, perhaps it is all because of the choices people on earth have made, and everyone is to blame, all are culpable in the morass of ignorance and "temporary fulfillment-bliss" induced by the satiation of ever-present and growing greed.

Is that the real enemy here? Has greed overgrown the islands and waters of love? Has "the red and the black" overcoated "the blue and the gold" to such an extent that the horizons of hope and fecund possibility are no longer visible? There will always be hope, but not always the efficacy of its translation into fact. The deed is the thing, and on earth deed-mind is the reality. We are mind, and we are filled with deeds: deeds in mind, and no escaping that matrix.

In the heart of love resides the peace of sages, and the embrace of the constant friend. It is the friend of everyone, being beyond opposites, but there are requisites for summoning its blessings in experience. Find out what these are, and live your discovery's heart. It is deep love and profound blessing. Unobstructed.
